Strep A: Guidance for early years providers amid rise in infections

Summary

Early years leaders have issued guidance for professionals, parents and carers after the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) warned of an increase in Strep A infections affecting children across the country.

The Early Years Alliance (EYA) has added a guide to Strep A infections to its Winter Toolkit for providers to share with parents and carers following the deaths of nine children from a rare strain of the illness.

It includes information about Strep A infections, including symptoms, advice for contacting a GP or non-emergency number 111, and when to call 999.
