A curriculum for life: the case for statutory PSHE education

Synopsis

This report aims to explain the importance of PSHE education to national policy makers, and claims to be useful for PSHE professionals seeking to raise awareness of the importance of the subject. The PSHE Association site also has resources for teachers.

This publication brings together evidence suggesting that personal, social, health and economic education – when taught well - helps keep children and young people safe, mentally and physically healthy, and prepared for life and work.

It highlights support for statutory status for the subject from expert bodies, pupils, parents, teachers, business leaders and politicians, and outlines key principles on how statutory status can ensure best practice.
