A review of evidence on the impact of parental engagement on attainment.
Do parental involvement interventions increase attainment? A review of the evidence.
Synopsis
This briefing paper summarises a review of the evidence linking parental interventions to improved student attainment. The 68 studies present a mixed and far from encouraging picture for the success of parental interventions.
The review illustrates that there is not yet enough evidence to suggest that parental intervention works, and also that a far higher standard of basic evaluation should be expected by those who commission and fund research.
