There are no short cuts
Synopsis
A manifesto for education reform, this work eschews 'magic wand' solutions and theories around improving educational outcomes. Instead, it posits that hard work is the only means by which students can improve their learning. Rafe Esquith asserts that only high expectations of learners, a challening curriculum, positive classroom environments and an honest but motivational approach to students coupled with relentless belief in a student's potential can ensure the success of learners, particularly those from deprived areas. He also advocates field trips and summer schools as a means of broadening learning opportunities.
