The behaviour guru: behaviour management solutions for teachers

Synopsis

Behaviour problems crush learning, but many schools don't seem to know what to do about it. This is the opening gambit of Tom Bennett, a teacher as well as behaviour expert.

Bennett argues that those groups who say there isn't a behaviour problem in schools are mainly composed of people who don't have to teach difficult classes: inspectors, senior staff, researchers, teachers of biddable communities. The groups who say there is a problem are usually the ones who experience highly challenging behaviour.

Rather that attempting to gain 'monastic silence' in classrooms, Bennett attempts to provide teachers with the tools needed to run a classroom on "run on rules that aim for the benefit of all".
