It argues that there is a widespread belief that significant improvements in educational outcomes can be made if teachers engaged with the best evidence of ‘what works’ and developed their practice accordingly.
This guide summarises what current evidence-based practice looks like, the perceived benefits of engagement, and how schools can develop a culture of evidence-based practice. On the basis of available research, the guide argues that most schools do not have a culture of evidence‑based practice, but that at schools where such a culture is in place, there are notable improvements to both teaching and learning, and CPD.
