New statutory guidance to restrict mobile phone use in schools announced, as Education Minister sets out her priorities.

National statutory restrictions on mobile phones in schools have been announced by the new boss of education in Wales.

Lockable pouches that prevent students from accessing their devices during the school day are central to the DfE’s plans for ‘phone‑free’ schools.

The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee holds the first session of its new inquiry into neuroscience and digital childhoods.  

Mobile phone use in schools across Edinburgh will be banned from bell to bell from August.
