Evidence based practice: a handbook for teachers

Synopsis

The handbook aims to raise awareness amongst teachers of the principles that inform evidence-based practice. Dr Jones writes with the aim of helping teachers to distinguish between practices that work and those that don’t, arguing that this understanding will affect the educational prospects of pupils as well as their own well being.

He sets out to show teachers what evidence-based practice is, and how it can help teachers and school leadership make better and more informed decisions. Jones also addresses a number of misconceptions about evidence-based practice and explains that evidence-based practice means that good decisions are based on a combination of good critical thinking and the best available evidence.
